We are pleased to announce that recruitment has now begun for an exciting new opportunity for young Muslims and Christians in Scotland.
In partnership with PROCMURA (Programme for Christian & Muslim Relations in Africa) and their regional offices in Rwanda - Interfaith Scotland, the Church of Scotland and key Islamic institutions in Scotland have embarked on a project that aims to build the capacity of young people to become interfaith leaders both locally and internationally. We are offering a group of young people (ages 18-25) the chance to explore their faith, issues facing young people, religion and international relations over the next 18 months.
The group that will be selected will receive training and orientation over the summer to prepare them for a week's excursion to the PROCMURA office in Rwanda where they will learn from the model of joint faith collaboration and dialogue. Other aspects of the trip will focus on developing key leadership skills to take back to Scotland to continue this year-long programme through discussions, debate and exploration of social and political issues as well as the all important lessons from the genocide that took place in 1994. In November 2017 the participants will be running events for Scottish Interfaith Week and in 2018 they will present at a International Interfaith Conference for young people as part of the Scottish Government's Year of Young People.
We are looking for people who are interested in these topics, can commit to the project from June 2017-June 2018 and can demonstrate that they are open to new challenges, a team player and ambitious for their future.
Participants will be expected to raise a minimum of £300 each by July 30th 2017.
Applications close on the 28th April with Interviews held on the 8th & 9th May in the Church of Scotland offices in Edinburgh.
